STST Residencies

Staffordshire St’s residency programme supports artists, collectives and creatives to develop and share their practice through community-led, socially engaged events and projects.

Rooted in our commitment to accessibility, collaboration and artist-led programming, residencies at STST are a space for experimentation and dialogue, fostering new ways of making and experiencing culture together.

At STST we are committed to creating and sustaining a responsive cultural space platforming the community that we serve. In 2026, our programme places a particular focus on LGBTQIA+ audiences, centring practices that amplify queer and trans voices, experiences and forms of expression.

Trans Chorus

Trans Chorus embarks on Generative - a year long residency at Staffordshire St that explores how singing and moving in community can support trans+ disabled folks to thrive in a hostile world.

Trans Chorus will offer monthly workshops for trans and gender non-conforming folks at the margins of disability, chronic illness and neurodivergence, partnering with arts access initiative We Are SENSORIA. Workshops will be led by vocal and movement facilitators whose practices are rooted in finding embodied paths to creativity, routes which are generative for our bodies and support states of regulation.

Using singing, movement, improvisation and rhythm as the primary tools for exploration, Trans Chorus will co-create a toolkit of accessible embodied exercises that trans+ disabled folks can tap into.

We’re excited to welcome Trans Chorus to Staffordshire St’s programming for 2026 celebrating our aligned commitment to co-creating embodied, accessible practices and joint belief that cultural spaces must be shaped by the communities they serve.

Peckham Life Drawing

Peckham Life Drawing joins Staffordshire St in a year-long residency throughout 2026, bringing an inclusive, socially engaged approach to life drawing that centres embodiment, play and collective presence.

Run by Peckham-based artist Lucie Russell, Peckham Life Drawing reimagines traditional figure drawing as a shared, accessible practice, inviting people to sketch and/or pose, regardless of experience or background. Rooted in care, experimentation and play, the sessions create space for drawing as both a creative and relational act.

Throughout the residency, Peckham Life Drawing will host regular sessions at Staffordshire St that welcome first-time drawers and seasoned artists, expanding who life drawing is for and how it can be experienced.

We’re delighted to welcome Peckham Life Drawing into Staffordshire St’s 2026 programme, celebrating a shared belief in challenging hierarchies within art-making and making art and creativity for all.

Donut Jam

Donut Jam continues into 2026 at Staffordshire St bringing exploratory nights of sound, light and movement – all taking place in the round. Born at Staffordshire St, Donut Jam celebrates the culture of the jam, pioneering community-led creativity and collaboration.

Each month, different musicians, artists and audiences are invited to shape the night together as Staffordshire St becomes a laboratory of musical and visual experimentation, curated by Charlie Flynn.

At the heart of Donut Jam is its signature circular jam — a welcoming space for creatives to play, push boundaries and discover new ideas. As musicians perform together, visual artists respond to their sound through light, projecting visual-scapes across the walls of the space, entirely transforming it.

We’re thrilled to continue presenting Donut Jam within the Staffordshire St programme, and to deepen the grooves it is making as a key event for musical communities and dialogue in South East London and beyond.

Tranz Tropez

Tranz Tropez joins Staffordshire St’s 2026 programme as the new STST Film Club resident, presenting a trans-led film screening series that centres community, conversation and bold new perspectives in cinema.

STST Film Club x Tranz Tropez invites audiences to connect and experience a specially curated programme of short films by trans and non-binary filmmakers from the UK and across the world. Each event creates space for watching and for dialogue, with post-screening Q&As offering opportunities to hear directly from filmmakers, share reflections and explore new ideas.

Positioned as “South East London’s prime holiday spot,” Tranz Tropez playfully reimagines the screening experience as an escapist, collective gathering that moves away from and rejects tired and limiting trans tropes in film, and instead foregrounds authentic, diverse and new ways of storytelling.

By platforming emerging and established trans voices, the programme is supporting artists to share their work on their own terms, fostering connections between filmmakers, audiences and collaborators.
